Two killed in Kenyan protests

At least two people have been killed in Kenya after opposition leader Raila Odinga urged people to take to the streets to protest President William Ruto’s tax hikes. The AFP news agency reports that rights groups, including Amnesty International, also condemned the police for carrying out “arbitrary arrests” and using “excessive force” in the latest round of protests. Odinga’s spokesperson nonetheless says they plan to hold “at least one (protest) every week”, with the next one expected on Wednesday.
