The Government of South Africa establishes economic infrastructure task teams to fight economic sabotage

President Cyril Ramaphosa says as part of the strengthened effort to combat economic sabotage, the South African Police Service has established 20 Economic Infrastructure Task Teams throughout the country. Of these, 18 are at the district level and two at the provincial level. Answering questions in the National Council of Provinces yesterday, Ramaphosa said between June last year and the end of June this year, the task teams made over four-thousand arrests, including for damage to essential and critical infrastructure, and extortion at construction sites:
