The International Olympic Committee has banned the Russian Olympic Committee “with immediate effect” for breaching the Olympic Charter. Our correspondent Daria Bondarchuk reports that the ban came after Moscow has incorporated regional sports councils from the four Ukrainian territories it annexed in 2022. The measure, however, does not affect Russian athletes competing as neutrals.
