Zimbabwe plans massive floating solar plant

Members of the Intensive Energy User Group, which also includes mining companies, aim to raise $250 million (~N$4.7 billion) to build the first phase of a floating solar power project on Lake Kariba. The plan involves the eventual generation of one gigawatt of capacity from 1.8 million photovoltaic panels installed on 146 modular units, and Bloomberg reports that the electricity will be sold to the group, and other qualifying customers under a 25-year power purchase agreement.
