The Western Cape Government has activated a disaster management centre due to an upgraded weather warning. The South African Weather Services raised the alert level to 9 for torrential rains in the Overberg, Cape Winelands, and Garden Route District areas. An emergency meeting included various national and provincial departments, with concerns about potential flash floods, mudslides, and road and residential area flooding.
