UK sanctions Sudanese entities

The United Kingdom has placed three each of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces’s multibillion-dollar entities under sanctions. The war is entering its third month, and, according to News24, the UK believes it has gone this long because of “the vast financial empires supporting the SAF and RSF”, identified as “multibillion-dollar conglomerates” providing steady funding for a war that is largely seen as a fight between two mafia bosses. The sanctions, they say, will “limit their financial freedom by preventing UK citizens, companies and banks from dealing with them, and put pressure on the parties to engage in the peace process”.
