UK government holds energy talks

The UK government’s summoned industry leaders from the energy sector for talks on economic growth and energy security.
It comes after the government announced 100 new oil and gas licences in the North Sea, which critics argue contradict green policy. Ministers insist the UK needs to boost its own energy supplies after the Ukraine conflict, and will still be able to hit emissions targets.
Michael Rushton – a Senior Researcher in Nuclear Energy at Bangor University – says other European nations have had success.
