UK and Turkiye announce migration deal

The UK’s announced a deal with Turkey designed to disrupt people smuggling gangs. London says it will involve more collaboration between UK and Turkish officials and the disruption of supply chains for materials involved in illegal migration – such as the manufacture of dinghies. The opposition Labour Party says the government is trying to distract from its failure to bring down illegal migration and asylum application backlogs. Immigration minister Robert Jenrick says the tie-up with Turkey will be wide-ranging.
