Task team to examine Nampower and Namwater debt

In an effort to come up with a permanent and sustainable solution to the issue of huge debts owed to both NamWater and Nampower, a task team will, as from today, visit regional and local authority councils as well as the Northern Regional Electricity Distributor. The Namibia press agency reports that the exercise will examine and profile the extent of the existing accumulated debts; the root causes of debt accumulation; the ability of local authorities to settle their existing debts; and the ability of local authorities to work out practical arrangements to settle their existing debts and avoid future debt accumulation.
