South Africa’s DA says it plans to introduce an amendment at the City of Johannesburg’s council

South Africa’s Democratic Alliance says it plans to introduce an amendment at the City of Johannesburg’s council meeting on Thursday, seeking to postpone the motion of no confidence against mayor Kabelo Gwamanda until 2 November. It says this will allow the legal dissolution of the council and address the political instability plaguing the city. The DA’s Fred Nel says Johannesburg requires a stable, ethical government and new elections within 90 days to save the city from further service delivery deterioration.
