South Africa to redirect grey vehicle imports to Maputo

The South African automotive industry, along with government entities and Grindrod, is developing a plan to redirect imports of grey and used vehicles, which stand at 55 thousand, and bound for neighboring countries to the Maputo terminal. The move, according to Business Insider, is a response to the growing issue of Africa becoming a dumping ground for second-hand vehicle imports, especially as European countries are planning to ban internal combustion engine vehicles, which could further accelerate this trend.
