President Cyril Ramaphosa has signed a proclamation authorising the Special Investigating Unit to probe the 290-million-rand tender awarded for the refurbishment of the Rooiwal Wastewater Treatment Works plant in Tshwane. The multimillion-rand tender is linked to controversial businessman Edwin Sodi. SIU spokesperson, Kaizer Kganyago, says in addition to investigating maladministration, malpractice, corruption, and fraud, they will identify system failures and make systematic recommendations to improve measures to prevent future losses:
