Police minister Bheki Cele has condemned the killing of a police officer attached to the national intervention unit in Ntuzuma, north of Durban. The officer was killed in a shootout with four alleged criminals, who were also shot dead. Another police officer is in a critical condition in hospital. Cele says it is clear that criminals have declared war, not only on the police but on communities as well:
