The National Energy Regulator of South Africa says the Electricity Regulation Amendment Bill will hopefully resolve the challenge of electricity distribution. The bill is crucial to overhaul South Africa’s power grid from transmission access to price and licence regulation. The amendment seeks the unbundling of Eskom into three entities, namely, generation, transmission, and distribution. Parliament is currently holding public hearings on the bill.
