Namibia receives below average rainfall

The Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform says that the country received below average rainfall in the 2022/23 season, with severe and prolonged dry spells in December, February, March and April, which led to poor agricultural production and pasture establishment. The Ministry thus urged the Office of the Prime Minister to continue the provision of the drought relief measures in Kunene, parts of Omusati and Erongo, Omaheke, ||Kharas and Hardap, until situations normalise. They also suggested that government consider rolling-out of drought relief interventions across the remaining eight regions.
