Man arrested over deaths from gas explosion fire at special needs school in Pretoria

A man has been arrested in connection with a gas explosion that killed two contract workers and left four others injured at the Zodwa Special School in Atteridgeville, Pretoria. Police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo said the man, 49, will be charged with two counts of murder, five counts of attempted murder and arson. News24 reports that he is expected to appear in court in the next 48 hours.  According to Tshwane’s emergency services spokesperson, Charles Mabaso, the two workers who died were employees of a contractor appointed to do repairs on two container classrooms.
