The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs says all disaster management centres have been activated, to monitor the weather pattern and risk and respond to any unforeseen events. This comes after the South African Weather Service raised the alert level for the province to orange, level six for today, warning of flooding that may cause damage to roads, bridges, and formal and informal settlements. The department’s spokesperson, Siboniso Mngadi, says residents in low-lying areas have been urged to relocate to safer areas if necessary:
