The Gauteng Education Department has officially confirmed there is no record of a National Senior Certificate for fake TikTok doctor Matthew Lani. This follows after Lani portrayed himself as a medical practitioner on social media while lacking the required educational credentials. Education quality assurance body Umalusi has also verified his lack of a matric certificate. The department’s Steve Mabona says after being sent to a special needs school, Lani later passed only one of three subjects at an adult education centre:
