Eskom gets US Grant

The United States has awarded Eskom a R24 million grant aimed at exploring cutting-edge technologies to catalyse the expansion and strengthening of South Africa’s constrained electricity transmission grid in a bid to accommodate more green power and reduce load shedding. News24 reports that the technical assistance – carried out by US contractor Power Engineers – will assess how the latest technologies can increase the stability and reliability of South Africa’s transmission grid systems and evaluate options such as artificial intelligence tools, energy storage systems, and cross-border energy trading structures.
