Coup unfolds in Gabon following contested election result

Following the Gabonese Election Centre’s declaration that Ali Bongo secured 64.27% of the vote against Albert Ondo Ossa’s 30.77%, officers took over Gabon24 in the early hours of Wednesday. They announced the cancellation of the elections, dissolution of state institutions, and closure of borders, effectively initiating a coup. Tesem Akende has more.
