City of Tshwane is joining the global commemoration in addressing food security challenges

In honour of World Food Day, SA’s City of Tshwane is joining the global commemoration in addressing food security challenges exacerbated by Covid-19 and climate change. This is in remembrance of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations in 1945. The city highlights the urgency of conserving water resources as rapid population growth, economic development and urbanisation threaten their availability. Mayoral committee member for Environment and Agriculture Management Ziyanda Zwane says they support initiatives like food gardens, goat farming, hemp production and efficient water use for agriculture.
