The City of Cape Town says additional staff have been deployed to assist with the high electricity call volumes following heavy downpours that led to severe flooding across the Western Cape. The storm caused damage to properties, and road closures, and several people have been reportedly missing. Mayoral committee member for Energy, Beverley van Reenen, says areas affected by storm-related outages include Philippi, Gugulethu, Grassy Park, and Bellville.
