AngloGold Ashanti on Friday reported a 54% decline in half-year profit mainly due to higher costs and lower output in Brazil, but expects to meet its production and cost targets for the year. According to Reuters, the Johannesburg-headquartered miner said its headline earnings per share – the main profit measure in South Africa – came in at $0.33 in the six months to June 30, down from $0.71 during the same period last year.
