48.9-percent of the South African population will not have enough food to eat by 2025

A total of 48.9-percent of the South African population will not have enough food to eat by 2025. This is according to the Shoprite Food Index compiled by the World Data Lab. According to the research, Limpopo will suffer the worst food insecurity with 54-percent of the population, while the numbers in the Western Cape and Gauteng are also high at 41-percent and 47-percent respectively.
