The 10th edition of the International Festival of Freedom of Expression and the Press started in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The Executive Director of Ministry of Information and Communication Technology Audrin Mathe called for measures to strengthen journalism, promote transparency, and empower all individuals while ensuring no one is left behind.

Namibia is expected to be recognised at the festival for its leading position in Africa in terms of media freedom and its global rank of 22nd in the press freedom index.
