The president of the Namibian Transport and Taxi Union Werner Januarie has said he is suing the Namibian government for damages of N$74 million after he was harassed and assaulted by members of the Namibian police and the Namibian Defense Force on August 21 last year in Dolam in the capital city. Januarie was, according to the police, detained over a weekend for defeating the course of justice and obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duty along with contravening the regulations of the state of emergency.
