A judge on Friday ruled in favour of the Namibia Food and Allied Workers Union against Shoprite Holdings Namibia, ordering the company to stop making use of seasonal workers while close to 2 000 employees are on strike, demanding a salary increment of N$ 600, a housing allowance of N$ 450, a transport allowance of N$ 500, as well as permanent employment for workers who have worked in the stores for over a year on a temporary basis.
