The US Embassy, through the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has extended its support to the Ministry of Health and Social Services to employ 11 data clerks and four public health specialists for an additional month due to the severity of the COVID-19 situation in the country. US Embassy spokesperson, Walter Parrs, explained that the original contract was for three months but because of the severity of the pandemic the contracts were extended, with the funding for this coming from the N$100 million donation to fight COVID-19 that was announced by the US Embassy in April 2020.
