TransNamib management said the company is currently unable to meet any wage increases due to its well documented weak financial position brought about, in part, by a decrease in revenue of more than 50 per cent during the lockdown period of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Namibia Transport and Allied Workers’ Union however refused to back down, saying they had lost confidence in the management of TransNamib and alleging that the company has not paid its employees’ overtime and that management bullies those who enquire about such payments.
