Despite President John Magafuli declaring the country free of Covid-19, authorities stopping reporting case numbers in May, and Covid-19 related news being censored as misinformation or disinformation, Tanzania’s Chief Medical Officer has now directed the management of the National Community Health Laboratory to provide Covid-19 test results to people expecting to travel outside the country within 24 hours instead of the previous 72 hours. The country has also signalled that it is not intending to use any Covid-19 vaccine but will instead settle on local herbs for protection against the disease, claiming that the production duration of the vaccines was not efficient enough to warrant a maximum protection.
