Al Jazeera reports that after months of negotiations between the transitional Sudanese government and the US administration about a deal to remove Sudan from Washington’s list of state-sponsors of terrorism, the disclosure of an imminent breakthrough was made, unsurprisingly, in the form of a tweet. The announcement was swiftly welcomed by Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, whose government has, as part of the deal to be delisted, agreed to pay $335m to victims of attacks on the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 and US destroyer, the USS Cole in 2000.
