South Africa’s national prosecuting authority has confirmed that the Gauteng director of public prosecutions will be prosecuting public protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane for perjury following the director of public prosecution assessing evidence presented by the Hawks regarding the matter. It sprung from a ruling by the Constitutional Court that found Mkhwebane had acted in bad faith and put forward a “number of falsehoods” in the Absa/Bankorp case.
