Despite President Hage Geingob not imposing a ban on the sale of alcohol under the new covid-19 regulations the Self-Regulating Alcohol Industry Forum of Namibia have committed to play their part in curbing the spread of the virus, including undertaking to conduct no in-trade promotions or activations that make use of PA systems or DJs which attract crowds, not sponsor any large events where crowds are expected, not conduct any tastings, and ensure that all advertising and marketing at all times promote responsible consumption of alcohol. SAIF Coordinator Horst Heimstadt says the trading industry is quite happy that they can go on trading however they are concerned that those working in the industry will be exposed to the virus.
