In advance of President Hage Geingob’s address to the nation on Wednesday about the update to regulations to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Self-Regulating Alcohol Industry Forum of Namibia sent a letter to Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr. Kalumbi Shangula explaining what measures the industry proposed to undertake to balance the social as well as economic aspects of alcohol in Namibia. In the letter the Forum said that, in an attempt to take a proactive stance to support measures to curb the spread of Covid-19, the industry would ensure they undertake no in-trade promotions or activations that make use of PA systems or DJs which attract crowds, not sponsor any large events where crowds are expected, not conduct any tastings, and ensure that all advertising and marketing at all times promotes responsible consumption.
