South African opposition parties in KwaZulu-Natal are calling for more funds to be allocated towards fighting farm attacks in the province following the murder of Newcastle couple, Glen and Vida Rafferty, on their farm at Normandien on Saturday night. The DA’s Chris Pappas says government has been turning a blind eye to the plight of the farming community, while the Freedom Front Plus’ Lourie Bosman says the lack of funds to strengthen security measures has resulted in the high crime rates that can only be tackled with the assistance of government.
