The alcohol industry in South Africa says it is concerned about President Cyril Ramaphosa having reinstated the ban on the sale of alcohol, explaining that while it understands the need to save lives, the ban should be reviewed regularly. Under the regulations, the sale of alcohol from retail outlets and the on-site consumption of alcohol will not be permitted while the distribution and transportation of alcohol will be prohibited with exceptions. Future Media News spoke to The Self-Regulating Alcohol Industry Forum’s coordinator Horst Heimstädt who said the ban should not affect Namibia too much.
