The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) has expelled Hafeni Mafita as a member of the party and has also withdrawn Mafita as the party’s candidate for the John Pandeni constituency for the upcoming Regional Council elections with immediate effect. This comes after Mafita uttered racist remarks against white people on his Facebook account. The leadership of the party had given Mafita 12 hours to issue a public apology after he made racial utterances on social media. But, Mafita was not willing to render a public apology, so the party had no other option but to expel him. Future Media News reached out to the Vice President of the PDM, Jennifer Van den Heever for commentary.
