The Municipality of Walvis Bay on Monday held a ground breaking ceremony in the Otweya informal settlement for the construction of 20 low cost houses to be built by the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia for those whose shacks burnt down in a devastating fire about three months ago at the former Twaloloka informal settlement. Speaking at the occasion, Deputy Minister of Urban and Rural Development Derek Klazen emphasised the importance of every Namibian owning decent housing and called for cooperation and dedication by the Walvis Bay community to the efforts aimed at building houses for the needy.
