The Ministry of Health and Social Services has instructed all public hospitals countrywide to ban visitors until further notice due to the increase in COVID-19 cases. This was confirmed to the Namibia press agency by the ministry’s executive director Ben Nangombe who said the rising community infections place many people at risk and the ministry wants to ensure that the risk of the virus being spread to patients is minimised. “We know COVID-19 is increasing in communities all over the country and we are basically discouraging visiting of patients in all public hospitals in order to prevent a situation where patients are infected by relatives and friends while they are already in the hospital,” Nangombe explained.
