The Namibia Media Professionals Union (Nampu), a new union of local journalists and media practitioners, was launched in November 2020. Nampu’s main priority is to organise and unite local journalists and media workers operating in print, broadcasting and online mediums, to allow for better bargaining and improved working conditions as stipulated in the Labour Act and other legislation. The union’s Secretary-General, Sakeus Iikela says they have managed to register upwards of 50 members so far.
