Namport handled 5 561 999 5 million tonnes of cargo during the 2018/19 financial year ended March 2020, compared to more than 5 700 000 tonnes recorded the previous financial year, representing a 4 per cent decrease in cargo handling due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Namibia Ports Authority Commercial Executive Tino Hanabeb, in an interview with Nampa on Wednesday, said volumes in terms of trade have not slowed down. However, border lockdowns and new regulations put in place by various governments affected delivery outcome of imports and exports.
