The Namibian Police Force has cautioned members of the public about scammers on social media platforms, following recent reports of activities by unknown persons suspected to be of Nigerian origin. The Namibia press agency quotes the police as explaining that scammers demand identity card copies and bank account numbers from victims with the pretext of employing them as agents to sell products such as cellphones and other gadgets, to be compensated on a commission basis. The police warned members of the public to be cautious and not fall victim to such scams by not paying for products they have not seen, or allowing themselves to be recruited as agents of unknown online marketers.
