Inspector General of the Namibian Police Force, Sebastian Ndeitunga, following the arrest of a NamPol member, Elifas Abraham, for allegedly firing several shots at members of the Independent Patriots for Change at the Ohangwena Region’s Ongenga Constituency on Saturday, has called on all members of the force to refrain from discriminating against members of the public on the basis of political affiliation. “This type of conduct is unacceptable. It is tarnishing the image of the police,” Ndeitunga said, adding that the role of the police is to protect all Namibians, irrespective of their political affiliations but at the same time called on political parties to conduct their election campaign in an orderly and peaceful manner without resorting to violence, insults and/or provocations.
