The Namibian Air Force on Sunday started an aerial spraying exercise in the Zambezi Region to help combat the African Migratory Red Locust infestation. Nampa reports that the NAF is teaming up with the Ministry of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform for one month to help contain the locust swarms. The Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, Calle Schlettwein on 24 September in the National Assembly said 4 002 square kilometers had been invaded and 500 hectares of grazing land destroyed by the locusts in the Zambezi Region.
