As the country prepares for the festive season travels, the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund has cautioned drivers to do regular 60-seconds inspections on their vehicles’ tyres to avoid road carnage. Nampa reports that MVA’s Chief Corporate Affairs, Surihe Gaomas-Guchu said a dipstick survey carried out by the Fund revealed that “Of the 60 vehicles surveyed, 33 per cent were certified not journey prepared as they had worn-out tyres and defective spare wheels. Data further indicated that some of the vehicles were not properly inflated”. Gaomas-Guchu noted that tyre safety is one of the key focus areas for the Fund and road safety partners during the upcoming 2020/21 Festive Season Road Safety Campaign to be launched on 25 November 2020, under the theme of ‘#DoTheRightThingAndSaveLives.’
