In an update to a story we carried yesterday: The Democratic Alliance’s Interim leader John Steenhuisen says John Moodey’s resignation is a ploy to avoid facing disciplinary action for alleged misconduct. Newsflash reports that Moodey cited strained race relations within the official opposition as the reason for his resignation but Steenhuisen revealed that Moodey was facing charges related to an attempt to frame a political opponent in a sex-for-jobs scandal. Meanwhile political analyst Daniel Silke believes the resignation of Moodey is a major blow to the party saying he believes it is less about race but rather deeper issues in the DA.
