The Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation is warning the public of a scam in which an email is circulating under the name of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, requesting beneficiaries of the “European Development Fund” for this year (2020) to forward their personal details, together with an Eight Digit Reference Number, to an email address provided. This is purportedly to benefit from “International Funding Grants for Small Business Development” projects but the Ministry has put it on record that the email address being used is in fact not that of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister, which is tantamount to fraud. The Ministry further explained that the Deputy Prime Minister, and the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation does not handle any funds from the European Development Fund, cautioning members of the public not to provide their details in such emails, as they could lose their money to fraudsters.
