Ministry of Health and Social Services Executive Director Ben Nangombe has said they will exhume the baby recently buried in a box at Oshikuku to give the baby a dignified burial. The Namibia press agency quotes Nangombe as saying that they established from the hospital that the baby was stillborn on 31 December 2020 and the mother, although she was given the option to have the remains cremated, opted to bury her baby herself citing cultural beliefs. He added though that handing out human remains in a carton is inconsistent with the established practice of the ministry and the legal requirements for proper handling of human remains and they are busy consulting with the family on the way forward.
