A number of schools around the country have indicated a delay in re-opening as per the phasing-in dates communicated due to a number of issues, including ongoing renovation and expansion of classrooms and hostels, ablution facilities and water provision. Further to this the Namibia press agency quotes the Public Relations Officer at the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture, Absalom Absalom, as saying that even with a phased-in approach, the ministry is not expecting all learners to attend school at the same time or on the same day and advocates for time-based cohorts, platooning or a combination of approaches that best meet the needs and the circumstances, to ensure the health and safety of learners and staff members in their various localities.
