One South Africa Movement founder Mmusi Maimane, Congress of the People president Mosiuo Lekota and businessman Michael Louis have revealed a collective plan of action to reform South Africa’s electoral system and strengthen democracy. Newsflash reports that they have launched the Direct Election Bill which will be tabled in Parliament soon. The Constitutional Court in June ruled that independent individuals can stand for elections. Briefing the media outside Parliament today, Maimane said citizens need a greater say in the running of the country.
